Роден на 03.10.1959 г в гр. Долна Оряховица.

Завършва машинно инженерство през 1985 г.

Защитава  дисертация през 1990 г. за присъждане на научната степен "кандидат на техническите науки" (доктор).

Защитава дисертация през 2003 г. за присъждане на научната степен "доктор на техническите науки".

Доцент по механика (1995 г.).

Професор по механика (2004 г.).

Автор е на над 220 научни статии и доклади у нас и в чужбина, от които 71 научни статии в международни научни списания с импакт фактор (Web of Science и Scopus), издания на Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, SAGE, Taylor & Francis и MDPI. H-index 17 (Scopus, May 2024).

Автор е на 18 книги и учебници, и на три монографии, две от които в чужбина.

Автор е на над 20 изобретения, защитени с патенти у нас и в чужбина (САЩ, Украйна, Русия).

Формулирал е теореми в механика на твърдото тяло, върху които е синтезирал металообработващи методи, защитени с авторски свидетелства за изобретения и внедрени в промишленост­та.

Основател на научна школа в областта на Surface Engineering и в частност “Син­тез, анализ и оптимизация на методи за пови­ша­ване на умор­ната дълго­трайност на метални конструк­ционни и машинни елементи”.

Ръководител на 12 успешно защитили докторанти, както и на доцентури и професури.

Главен редактор на списание „Известия на ТУ-Габрово”.

Член на редакторския борд на международното научно списание с импакт фактор (2.292 Scopus) Coupled Systems Mechanics, издание на Techno Press.

Член на редакторските бордове на три научни списания, издавани в Украйна, и на две научни списания, издавани в България.

Гост-Редактор на специални издания на международните научни списания с импакт фактор (Web of Science) Applied Sciences и Coatings, издавани от MDPI.

Носител на златни медали на изложения за изобретения и иновации у нас (София, 2011) и в чужбина (Брюксел, 2011г.), както и на златна значка на техническия панаир в Пловдив (1984 г.) и на сребърен медал на V национално изложение ИТИ‘ 2014.

Ръководител на лабораторен комплекс в Центъра за интелигентен разтеж и ръководител на лаборатория „Изпитания на металите”, обслужваща клиенти от промишлеността.

Ръководител на 22 научно-изследователски проекта в България; ръководител на два и участник в три европейски научно-изследователски проекта.

Удостоен е със званието Академик на Академията на науките и висшето образование на Украйна (2013 г.).

Награден е с медал от Президиума на АНВО на Украйна за принос в развитието на науката (2019 г.).
